NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 23, 2019—
Norfolk State freshman Evans Cheruiyot and
North Carolina A&T State sophomore Regan Kimtai were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Co-Runners of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Norfolk State senior Martha Bissah was named Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Cheruiyot (Fr., Iten, Kenya) ran a 25:19.6, his second-fastest time of the season in 8K, at the Under Armour Pre-Nationals to finish 12
th. His time helped the Spartans place eighth out of 20 teams.
Kimtai (So., Eldoret, Kenya) finished fourth in the High Point VertCross Challenge this past weekend, completing the 8K course in 25:18.0 – just five seconds shy of his personal best. His time helped the Aggies finish sixth in the team standings.
Bissah (Sr., Accra, Ghana) ran a personal-best 20:47.51 over 6K to finish second in the East Carolina Pirate Invitational. Her 5K pace in that race was 17:10, which is over 40 seconds quicker than her fastest 5K time of the season.
