NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 23, 2019—Bethune-Cookman celebrates Homecoming in Week 9 of the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) season with a tough test – South Carolina State coming to Daytona Beach, Fla. Elsewhere, the Aggies will hope to use their Homecoming to bounce back against Howard, while Florida A&M will hit the road to take on Morgan State. North Carolina Central will be home off its bye week, squaring off against Delaware State.

Kylil Carter threw for 251 yards and added nine carries for 63 yards this past weekend in an overtime loss to Florida A&M. Jah-Martin, the MEAC’s leading rusher, was limited to just 71 yards in the contest. Meanwhile, the Bison are coming off a bye week after falling at home to Norfolk State in their last contest on Oct. 12. North Carolina A&T State leads the all-time series, 27-18-2, and has won the last four meetings between the two schools. The Aggies won the last matchup, 34-7, back in 2016.

Quarterback Davius Richard threw for 250 yards and Isaiah Totten ran for 78 yards in the Eagles’ 27-13 loss to Bethune-Cookman back on Oct. 10. Corahn Alleyne had a 72-yard touchdown catch in the Hornets’ 30-21 loss to Merrimack this past weekend, which was the first of his career and the longest reception by a Hornet since Nyfease West had an 81-yarder against West Virginia in 2017. Bryant Dallas had set career highs in rushing yards (103) and touchdowns (2). The Hornets defeated the Eagles 28-13 last season, but the Eagles have won seven of the last nine meetings between the two schools.
Florida A&M Rattlers (6-1, 4-0 MEAC) vs. Morgan State Bears (1-6, 1-3 MEAC)

For the third time in 22 years, the Rattlers took down the No.1 HBCU team at Bragg Memorial Stadium with a 34-31 overtime win over North Carolina A&T State this past Sunday. Ryan Stanley continued to add to his school records, throwing for 220 yards and a pair of scores, while Xavier Smith had five catches for 106 yards and a touchdown. Deandre Harris and DJ Golatt combined to throw for 267 yards in the Bears’ 24-10 loss to South Carolina State this past weekend. The Rattlers have won three of the last four meetings against Morgan State, including 38-3 last season.

South Carolina State head coach Buddy Pough made history with a 24-10 win over Morgan State on Saturday, winning his 129
th game to become the winningest coach in Bulldogs’ history. Wildcats quarterback Akevious Williams was named MEAC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season for his performance in the Wildcats’ 35-22 win over Norfolk State. Williams completed a career-high 24-of-36 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 14 carries for 28 yards and a touchdown. Bulldogs’ defensive lineman Tyrell Goodwin was named the MEAC Defensive Player of the Week for his play. Goodwin lived in the backfield, logging seven tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble. Offensive lineman Alex Taylor was named the MEAC Offensive Lineman of the Week after grading out at 94 percent and helping pave the way for the Bulldogs to rack up 333 yards of total offense, including 198 yards on the ground. Bethune-Cookman won the last matchup between the two schools, 28-26 last season. The two schools have been evenly matched, with the Wildcats winning seven of the last 13 matchups.
