MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 22, 2019Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Chloe Skurzynski was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, the conference office announced today. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Alejandra Amezcua.
 
Skurzynski (So., Carlisle, Pa.) was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Sugar Bowl Invite after posting the second-best individual average in traditional play for the weekend at 220.0. She rolled three games of 200 or better, including a weekend-best 268 against Vanderbilt. She had a 53-percent strike rate and an 89-percent fill clip in helping the Hawks finish third.
 
Amezcua (Fr., Baja California, Mexico) averaged 199.2 pins in traditional play in her first collegiate tournament, finishing 12th in the individual standings at the Sugar Bowl Invite. She also eclipsed the 200-pin mark three times – including a high of 235 against Lincoln Memorial – helping the Hawks go 4-1 in traditional play and 6-2 in Baker play.
 
Other Top Performers
Aushia McLean (CSU) finished 18th at the Mount St. Mary’s Shootout with a traditional average of 183.2.
 
Alexis Neuer (DSU) was named All-Tournament at Mount St. Mary’s, finishing fifth in the individual standings with an average pinfall of 196.4.
 
Janae Bradford (HOW) came in eighth at Mount St. Mary’s with a 192 average and a high of 224.
 
Aliya Adams (MSU) averaged 149.2 pins in traditional play at Mount St. Mary’s.
 
Ashanti Fernandes (MSU) was 17th at Mount St. Mary’s with an average pinfall of 184.2.
 
Samantha Johnson (UAB) was fourth in the Sugar Bowl Invite and helped the Blazers to a sixth-place finish, averaging 207.0 in traditional play.
