ORANGEBURG, S.C. --  Corey Fields threw a pair of long, second-half touchdown passes and South Carolina State built a three-touchdown lead going into the fourth quarter and held on to beat Morgan State, 24-10 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference battle Saturday night.
 
The teams shared time of possession evenly, but the Bulldogs took advantage of five Morgan State turnovers.
Nicholas O'Shea gave the Bears the lead with a 39-yard field goal four minutes into the game, but they would not score again until the fourth quarter.
 
Labron Morris' 3-yard run put SC State (4-2, 2-1) in front and Dillon Bredesen added a 31-yard field goal to make it 10-3 at intermission.

Fields hit Will Vereen with a 49-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter and found Shaquan Davis from 41-yards out to make it 24-3 with 11:27 to play.

Merrimack 30, Delaware State 21
 
Dover, Del. (Oct. 19, 2019) --- Merrimack scored the last 16 points of the game to surge past Delaware State 30-21 at Alumni Stadium this afternoon. The Hornets, who led on three occasions in the game,   lost their fifth straight to fall to 1-6, while the Warriors improved to 3-4.
 
Merrimack is in the first of a four-year transition to full Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) status and membership in the Northeast Conference (NEC).
 
Quarterback Christian Carter completed 18-of-37 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 64 yards and a score to lead the Warriors, who won the total yardage battle 374-331.
 
Bryant Dallas rushed for a career-best 102 yards and two touchdowns, while quarterback Tylik Bethea connected on 11-of-22 passes for 166 yards and a score for the Hornets.
 
Delaware State was also plagued by two turnovers and seven penalties for 80 yards. Merrimack was turnover-free and flagged just five times for 24 yards in the contest.

Bethune-Cookman 35, Norfolk State 22
 
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Akevious Williams threw  for 274 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another, and Isaac Washington rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown as Bethune-Cookman fended off  Norfolk State for a 35-22 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory Saturday night at Daytona Stadium.

The Spartans (2-6 overall, 1-3 MEAC) closed to 28-22 on Kevin Johnson's 4-yard run to start the fourth quarter and kept it within a touchdown after holding the Wildcats (6-1,4-0) to Xavier McDonald's third field goal with 10:35 left.

BCU's defense responded with two big stops, the first when Davonte Lawrence recovered a fumbled forced by Marques Ford to end a red zone threat.  Norfolk State got the ball back, but Tony Bowman and Marques Ford registered sacks to force the change of possession, and Washington sealed it with a six-yard run with 1:01 left.
Williams completed a career-high 24 passes of 36 attempts as the Wildcats won their fifth straight. His 267 yards was his second-best total of his career.

BCU turned a 14-7 second quarter deficit into a 19-14 halftime lead on Williams' one-yarder to Taron Mallard that cut the deficit to 14-13, then the senior scored on an option run for three yards to put the Wildcats ahead by five going into the locker room.

Two McDonald field goals pushed BCU's lead to 25-14.
