NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 2, 2019Bethune Cookman sophomore Carlin Berryhill and Norfolk State sophomore Meshack Kipchirchir were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country Co-Runners of the Week, the conference office announced today. North Carolina A&T State senior G’Jasmyne Butler was named Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Berryhill (So., Miami, Fla.) was edged out by FAU’s Lachlan Shiver for individual honors late Friday at the UCF Invitational. The 2018 MEAC individual champion clocked an 8K time of 25:06.08, just behind Shiver’s winning time of 25:05.50. That time is currently the third-fastest in the MEAC this season, and Berryhill finished ahead of all five Florida scorers that produced the Gators’ win in the team competition (Florida is currently ranked No. 8 in the South Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association).

Kipchirchir (So., Eldoret, Kenya) ran the MEAC’s fastest 8K time of the year, and he is the lone MEAC runner to break the 25-minute mark. Kipchirchir, who came into the week already as one of the MEAC’s fastest cross country runners, clocked a time of 24:51.1 to finish 28th out of more than 160 runners at the Panorama Farms Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia on Friday.
