NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 14, 2019—
North Carolina A&T State junior Edie Brewer and
Bethune-Cookman junior Jordan Jefferson were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Co-Players of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Bethune-Cookman’s Bailey Robinson was named Rookie of the Week, while
North Carolina A&T State sophomore Andrea Laboy-Rivera earned Defensive Specialist of the Week honors and
Bethune-Cookman sophomore Ryleigh Taylor was named Setter of the Week.
Brewer (6-0, Jr., S/RS, West Chester, Ohio) recorded her fifth triple-double of the season (and sixth of her career) on Friday against Bethune-Cookman, racking up 18 kills, 25 assists and 11 digs. She followed that up on Sunday with 32 assists and 12 kills against Florida A&M, hitting .435 and helping the Aggies remain unbeaten in MEAC play. For the weekend, Brewer hit .338, while averaging 3.8 kills, 7.2 assists and 2.3 digs per set.
Jefferson (5-8, Jr., OH, San Antonio, Texas) recorded double-doubles in all three matches this past week, averaging 3.5 kills and 5.3 digs per set. She opened with an 18-kill, 21-dig performance on Tuesday against Florida A&M, before adding 13 kills and a career-high 28 digs against North Carolina A&T State. On Sunday, she hit a week-best .333 against North Carolina Central, notching 14 kills and 20 digs.
Robinson (5-11, Fr., OH, Fort Worth, Texas) averaged 3.2 kills per set this past week, and she recorded her second career double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs on Friday against North Carolina A&T State. She followed that on Sunday with a career-high 17 kills against North Carolina Central, hitting .282.
Laboy-Rivera (5-5, So., DS, Coamo, Puerto Rico) averaged 6.4 digs per set as the Aggies defeated Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M to remain undefeated in conference play. She opened the weekend with a 28-dig effort against the Wildcats, and she racked up 23 more digs on Sunday against Florida A&M.
Taylor (5-10, So., S, The Colony, Texas) averaged nine assists per set this past week, kicking things off with a double-double (37 assists, 14 digs) against Florida A&M. She added 39 assists against North Carolina A&T State, to go along with eight digs, and she closed the week with a career-high 41 assists against North Carolina Central.

Shayla Eugene (B-CU) had 26 digs against North Carolina Central after 22 each against Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T State.
Miajavon Coleman (CSU) had 15 kills and 10 digs against Norfolk State.
Brianna Lang (CSU) racked up 35 assists against Norfolk State.
Ashley Roman (CSU) had 11 digs against Howard and 10 against Norfolk State.
Maria Yvette Garcia (FAMU) recorded 13 kills against North Carolina Central and 11 against North Carolina A&T State.
Kayla Diaz (HOW) had 19 assists against Morgan State.
Jurnee Tipton (HOW) recorded 10 kills against Coppin State and 13 digs against Morgan State.
Fola Wilson (HOW) had 17 digs against Coppin State.
Tylar Roberson (MSU) had 12 kills, seven digs and two blocks against Howard.
Jennevy Santos (MSU) had 11 digs against Howard.
Roi Wallace (MSU) racked up 25 assists against Howard.
Addy Warfield (NCAT) recorded a double-double (28 assists, 11 digs) against Bethune-Cookman.
Julisa Carrizosa (NSU) had eight kills and 11 digs against Coppin State.
