MEAC Cross Country: Just Two Weekends Until Championships

2019 MEAC Cross Country Top 10 Times

This coming weekend marks just two remaining before the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championships, as squads look to round into championship form.

Seven MEAC cross country squads will be in action this weekend. Coppin State, Delaware State, Howard Maryland Eastern Shore and Morgan State will all participate in the Delaware State Alumni Run on Friday in Smyrna, Del. That race will be held at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center, the site of the 2019 MEAC Cross Country Championships (Saturday, Oct. 26).

Florida A&M will participate in the Florida State Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla., on Friday, while North Carolina A&T State will travel to High Point, N.C. to run in the High Point Invitational that same day.

Last weekend, reigning MEAC Runner of the Week G’Jasmyne Butler of North Carolina A&T State won the HBCU Challenge with a time of 18:55.2 – the third-fastest 5K time in the MEAC this season – and repeated as Women’s Runner of the Week. Led by Regan Kimtai, three Aggies finished in the top five at the HBCU Challenge on the men’s side.

Also for the men, Bethune-Cookman’s Carlin Berryhill – the 2018 MEAC individual cross country champion – won individual gold at the South Florida Invitational. He ran a 16:04.9 over the 5K course, winning by 13 seconds.

He was named MEAC Men’s Runner of the Week.

In other action this past weekend, Tyler Duncan led South Carolina State to a second-place finish at the Charleston Classic.
