NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 17, 2018—Coppin State freshman Miajavon Coleman and
North Carolina A&T State sophomore Courteney Pitt were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Co-Players of the Week, the conference office announced today.
North Carolina Central’s Arlanda Faulkner was named Rookie of the Week, while
Howard sophomore Fola Wilson earned Defensive Specialist of the Week honors and
Coppin State freshman Brianna Lang was named Setter of the Week.
Coleman (5-10, Fr., OH, San Antonio, Texas) was named to the Charm City Classic All-Tournament Team after hitting .338 for the weekend, recording double-digit kills in all three of the Eagles’ matches. She kicked off the weekend with a MEAC-best 29 kills on .335 hitting against North Carolina Central, a match in which she also had seven digs and four total blocks. She followed that up with 14 kills and three blocks against South Carolina State, before hitting .400 and notching 19 kills against North Carolina A&T State.
Pitt (6-1, So., OH, Farmville, N.C.) recorded 20 kills or more in three of the Aggies’ four matches this past weekend, and she had a double-double of 24 kills and 10 digs in a four-set win over Coppin State. She also had 24 kills and seven digs at Morgan State, before hitting a weekend-best .576 with 20 kills and three service aces against Norfolk State. For the weekend, Pitt averaged nearly five kills and two digs a set and hit .333.
Faulkner (5-9, Fr., OH/RS, Goldsboro, N.C.) hit .215 for the weekend, recording double-digit kills in both of the Lady Eagles’ matches in the Charm City Classic. She opened the weekend with 15 kills and three total blocks against Coppin State, before turning in a 10-kill, five-dig effort on Saturday in a straight-set win over Delaware State, a match in which she hit .217.
Wilson (5-3, So., L, Minneapolis, Minn.) averaged 5.7 digs per set in wins over UMBC and North Carolina A&T State this past week. She notched 17 digs in each match, marking four straight matches in which she has recorded double-digit digs, and she added a service ace in Tuesday’s win over the Retrievers.
Lang (5-8, Fr., S, Atlanta, Ga.) averaged a MEAC-best 11.3 assists per set this past weekend, including a career-high 64 against North Carolina Central – a match in which she also racked up 17 digs for her second double-double of the season. She followed that up with 32 assists in a win over South Carolina State, before wrapping up the Charm City Classic on Saturday with a 39-assist effort against North Carolina A&T State.

Chelsie Kolibar (CSU) racked up a season-high 17 digs against North Carolina Central.
Milexa Cardona (DSU) had 28 assists against North Carolina Central.
Tamia Dockery (HOW) averaged 10.2 assists per set and had 38 assists against North Carolina A&T State.
Kira Porter (HOW) had 11 kills against North Carolina A&T State after recording 10 against UMBC.
Kalysia Bates (MSU) had five total blocks against North Carolina A&T State and four against South Carolina State.
Cristen Coryatt (MSU) had 21 kills and nine digs against North Carolina A&T State.
Zoe McBride (MSU) had 10 digs against North Carolina A&T State.
Roi Wallace (MSU) racked up 35 assists and nine digs against North Carolina A&T State.
Edie Brewer (NCAT) had 39 assists against Coppin State.
Anna Rupertova (NSU) had seven kills and five digs against North Carolina A&T State.
