MEAC Volleyball Set to Wrap Up Non-Conference Play

This coming weekend marks the final weekend of the bulk of non-conference play for Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) volleyball, though several member institutions will see each other in Baltimore, Md. as Coppin State hosts the Charm City Classic.

This past week saw abbreviated action throughout the conference as the threat of Hurricane Florence forced cancellations for Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T State, North Carolina Central and South Carolina State. Morgan State also had its schedule altered by the storm, but the Lady Bears found another tournament in ther Dig the District Tournament co-hosted by Georgetown and George Washington.

Bethune-Cookman went 2-1 in the Stetson Invitational this past weekend, posting wins over Chicago State and Brown. Morgan State defeated Alabama A&M on Saturday, and Florida A&M picked up its first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Troy in four sets.

The Lady Wildcats hold the MEAC's best record at 7-6.

Morgan State's Cristen Coryatt was named MEAC Co-Player of the Week for the third straight week, this time sharing the honor with Bethune-Cookman's Miranda White. Zoe McBride of Morgan State was named Rookie of the Week, also for the third week in a row, while Bethune-Cookman's Jordan Jefferson and Morgan State's Roi Wallace were named Defensive Specialist and Setter of the Week, respectively.

Bethune-Cookman's lone match of the week will be on Tuesday, when the Lady Wildcats hit the road to face North Florida and Howard takes on UMBC in Burr Gymnasium.
