MEAC Announces Weekly Softball Honors

NORFOLK, Va. - Hampton's Taylor Warrick was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Coppin State’s Madison Didion has been selected as the Pitcher of the Week while Nia Bowe of Coppin State earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Warrick (So., Mount Laurel, N.J.) batted .400 (6-of-15) with six stolen bases, four runs scored and two RBI as she helped lead Hampton to a pair of wins over Delaware State. Her performance had a direct impact on the Pirates earning the second seed out of the Northern Division in the upcoming MEAC Championships. She opened the week with a hit versus Virginia Tech before recording a pair of two-hit games against Delaware State. Warrick also swiped a pair of stolen bases in every game of the DSU series.

Didion (Jr., Montesano, Wash.) stepped up with the season on the line and pitched a two-hit shutout which included a career-high 15 strikeouts over Howard. The win propelled Coppin State to the upcoming MEAC Championships.

Bowe (Fr., Milford, Del.) finished the week with a 3-for-7 performance which included five RBI, two runs, a double and a home run. She had a pair of hits and RBI in the opener at Saint Peter's while driving in three runs in the nightcap.

Allyson Babinsack (Hampton)
clinched Hampton's bid to the MEAC Tournament with a nine-inning gem in the opener versus Delaware State. She finished the series with six strikeouts.
