Bethune-Cookman's Jackson Garners NFCA First Team All-Region Softball Honors

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman's Ryan Jackson has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's (NFCA) Division I Southeast Regional First Team.
 
A sophomore from Chino Hills, Calif, Jackson led the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in RBIs (50), runs scored (51), total bases (122) and a school single-record for home runs (17). She ranks second with 56 hits, second in slugging percentage (.758), fifth in stolen bases (27) and sixth in on-base percentage (.451). 
 
Nationally, Jackson ranks 15th in home runs and 13th in hit by pitch per game.
 
She earned MEAC Player of the Week honors three times over the course of the 2018 campaign while also setting MEAC single game highs in RBIs (6) and doubles (3). Defensively, she has recorded a .953 fielding percentage with 60 putouts in the outfield. 
 
Jackson was named MEAC Player Of The Year for the second consecutive year. She was also the MEAC's Rookie of the Year in 2017 and the 2018 MEAC Preseason Player Of The Year.
 
The 2018 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, May 30.
 
Bethune-Cookman, coming off last week's MEAC tournament championship and on a  seven-game winning streak, makes its first NCAA Regional Appearance Friday in Gainesville, Fla, where the Wildcats (31-24) are scheduled to face second-seed Florida (50-8) at 7:30 p.m.
