NORFOLK, Va., April 11, 2018—
Morgan State senior Lucas Krusinski and
Norfolk State sophomore Andres Alcaraz were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Tennis Co-Players of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Morgan State’s Sebastian Lopez was named Rookie of the Week.
Krusinski (Sr., Freyming-Merlebach, France) went a combined 3-0 this past week, helping the Bears improve to 9-4 on the season. Against Harford, he notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over Antonie Le Gloan in the No. 2 singles position after pairing with Arjun Ramakrishnan for a 6-0 doubles victory over Triston Diaz and Luigi Zanin. In a 4-0 win over Howard, Krusinski defeated Cole Gittens 6-2, 7-5 in the No. 2 spot.
Alcaraz (So., Pachuca, Mexico) notched singles and doubles victories in the Spartans’ non-conference match against Longwood. After teaming with Dan Dumitrascu for a 7-5 win over Jorge Godoy and Valentin Popescu in the No. 1 doubles position, he recorded a 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 victory over Raisei Sakai in the No. 2 singles spot to extend his singles winning streak to five matches.
Lopez (Fr., Bogota, Colombia) went a combined 3-1 for the week, notching a pair of singles victories at the No. 4 position and also notching a doubles victory in conference play against Howard. He defeated Harford’s Luigi Zanin 6-1, 6-3 before defeating the Bison’s Sagar Raju 6-1, 6-1 for his sixth straight singles win. Lopez also teamed with Oguzhan Ceylan in the No. 1 doubles spot for a 6-2 win over Karim Shokeir and Raju.

Jorge Rodriguez Rey (CSU) notched singles and doubles victories in the Eagles’ loss to Lafayette.
Kyle Martin (HOW) won his first collegiate singles match with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Coppin State’s Igor Zapparoli De Souza in the No. 5 position.
Karim Shokeir (HOW) defeated Coppin State’s Gavin Lewis 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in the No. 3 singles spot.
