Bethune-Cookman senior Matea Roki was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Teammate Rehaana Butt was named Rookie of the Week.
Roki (Sr., Toronto, Ontario) led Bethune-Cookman to a 2-0 start to conference play this past weekend, picking up a pair of singles wins at the No. 1 position while also going 3-0 in doubles play. She defeated North Carolina Central’s Jamie Rogers 6-4, 7-5, before turning away Sheyla Ramirez of North Carolina A&T State 6-2, 6-4. She also won her doubles matches in those contests, teaming with Butt, and the duo also won a doubles match 6-2 over Longwood’s Jamie Breunig and Marija Venta.
Butt (Fr., Palm Harbor, Fla.) opened MEAC play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over North Carolina Central’s Maru Berghaus and a 6-2, 6-2 defeat of North Carolina A&T State’s Khalia Powell, both in the No. 2 singles position. She also went a perfect 3-0 in doubles play for the week, teaming with Roki in the top spot to pick up victories over North Carolina Central, North Carolina A&T State and Longwood.

Rachel Harden (FAMU) defeated North Carolina Central’s Lauren Mullis 6-0, 6-0.
Nathalie Finch (HOW) defeated Fairleigh Dickinson’s Tatiana Eftenoiu 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 1 position.
Khalia Powell (NCAT) defeated Florida A&M’s Karen Machisa 6-2, 7-5, while also picking up a doubles win against Cardinal Stritch.
Shakendra Alston (SSU) picked up her first two collegiate wins, defeating Longwood’s Julia Candiotto 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 and Norfolk State’s Tyrika Lee 6-0, 6-0.
Muskaan Ranjan (SSU) defeated Heidi Swope of Appalachian State 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (6) and Norfolk State’s Ana Popovic 7-5, 6-0.
