Howard Women Defeat Hampton for Third Straight Win

WASHINGTON, D.C. --
Howard defeated rival Hampton 68-63 Thursday evening in Burr Gymnasium in a game that had to be re-scheduled twice in January due to the aftereffects of winter weather.

The Bison (10-13, 6-4 MEAC) have won three straight.

Asia McCants led Howard with 16 points, going 12-for-13 from the free throw line. Ayonna Williams added 11 points, while Imani Bryant grabbed a team-high 11 boards. Jayla Myles chipped in seven points, nine rebounds and a game-high four blocked shots.

Hampton (11-12, 7-3 MEAC) led 33-25 at the half, but Howard outscored the Lady Pirates 25-15 in the third quarter en route to a 43-30 second half for the Bison.

K'lynn Willis and Ashley Bates each had 13 points for Hampton. Monnazjea Finney-Smith (12 points, 15 rebounds) and Allina Starr (12 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles.

Heading into this weekend's action, Hampton remains in third place in the MEAC standings, while Howard jumps to fourth.
