DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central put a strong bookend on the 2018 calendar year and non-conference portion of the schedule with a 91-44 win over Wilberforce as Raasean Davis became the Eagles' first 30-point scorer on Sunday, Dec. 30 at McDougald-McLendon Arena.
Davis was 15-for-16 from the floor and finished with a career-high 34 points, and added 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the year. The last 30+ point performance was by Patrick Cole at Northern Kentucky on Nov. 26, 2016 when he put up 32.
Davis actually scored the first 11 points of the contest for NCCU (5-9) before Jibri Blount put in a bucket of his own, and the pair took over the game for the Eagles as they combined for 56 points. Blount tacked on 22 points and six boards, and Zacarry Douglas again had a rounded game with nine points and 10 caroms. Jordan Perkins claimed a game-high seven assists in the contest.
As a team, the Eagles shot 48.0 percent from the floor and pulled down 51 rebounds, the second-most this season. NCCU also held Wilberforce (2-11) to a field goal percentage of just 26.6, the lowest conceded this year by the maroon and gray.
Lajuane Marshall led the Bulldogs in scoring with 27 points, as he knocked down four three-pointers, and also collected seven rebounds.
