HOUSTON, Texas – Confronted by 20th-ranked Houston, the Coppin State men's basketball team was topped by the Cougars, 75-44, on Sunday afternoon at Fertitta Center.

How It Happened
First Half
- Houston opened the game on an 8-0 run before Lamar Morgan put the Eagles on the board with a three at the 18:15 mark.
- Lucian Brownlee answered a Cougars basket with a triple of his own, making it a 10-6 game with 16:27 remaining.
- Three's continued to keep Coppin in the game early as Giir Ring and Cedric Council also buried shots from downtown but following another three by Brownlee with 7:33 left, Houston went on an 11-2 run to take a 35-18 lead with 3:16 to go.
- Kent Auslander hit a pair of shots down the stretch, sandwiching a Cougars jumper as Houston went into the half with a 37-22 advantage.
Second Half
- Houston scored the first six points of the half before Auslander made all three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt.
- Coppin was able to close the gap to as little as 14 points (47-33) at the 13:01 mark after a jumper by Nigel Marshall but the Cougars pulled away with a 17-3 run over the next five-and-a-half minutes.
- Taqwain Drummond ended the run with a four-point play with 7:14 left to play.

- Cedric Council finished a point shy of a double-double to lead Coppin State, finishing with nine points to go with a career-high 12 rebounds and three steals.
- Lucian Brownlee made his first career start while playing in his 102nd game and tallied a season-high eight points.
- The Eagles were held to a season-low 21.5% field goal percentage while Houston made 43.1% of its shots.
- Houston got 16 points from Corey Davis, Jr., as well as 13 points from Breaon Brady and ten from Armoni Brooks.
