NCCU’s Reynolds Named to STATS FCS All-America Team

North Carolina Central senior defensive back Davanta Reynolds has been named to the STATS FCS All-America Team as a member of the third team.
 
A native of Tucker, Ga., Reynolds finished fourth in the MEAC in tackles with a team-high 83 takedowns, including 8.5 hits for a loss with a sack, two interceptions, two pass break-ups and a fumble recovery. For the second straight year, he was voted to the All-MEAC First Team and the BOXTOROW All-America Team.
 
On Nov. 12, Reynolds was selected as the MEAC Defensive Player of the Week after amassing a career-high 12 tackles (8 solo), including 4.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage for 25 yards lost with an unassisted sack at Bethune-Cookman during a Thursday night ESPNU broadcast.
 
Reynolds, who earned his Bachelor's degree on Dec. 8, wrapped up his stellar collegiate career with 208 tackles, 19.5 stops for a loss, 10 interceptions, 10 pass break-ups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 44 starts as a safety. As a junior in 2017, he was recognized as an Associated Press FCS All-American as a member of the Third Team.
