The Associated Press announced its 2018 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America teams on Tuesday, and three players from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) were named to the First Team: North Carolina A&T State's Micah Shaw and Darryl Johnson, Jr., as well as Florida A&M punter Chris Faddoul.
Shaw, the 2018 MEAC Offensive Lineman of the Year, anchoed an offensive line that allowed the Aggies to rank second in the MEAC in scoring offense and third in total offense this season. The Aggies produced the lone 1,000-yard rusher in the MEAC this season in Marquell Cartwright. Opposing defenders had trouble getting to the Aggies' backfield as the unit only allowed 12 sacks in the regular season.
Johnson was the 2018 MEAC Defensive Player of the Year after leading the MEAC in sacks (10.5) and tackles for loss (18.5). He is a two-time first-team All-MEAC performer for the nationally ranked Aggies and is also a candidate for the Buck Buchanan Award for the best FCS defensive player in the nation.
Faddoul was a First Team All-MEAC selection this past season after leading the conference in punting with an average of 46.8 yards per boot.
All three players were also named BoxToRow All-Americans earlier this week, and Johnson is a finalist for Black College Player of the Year.
