The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will have a relatively full slate of bowling this coming weekend, one last hurrah before the schedule largely goes dark until after the New Year.
UAB won the first MEAC meet of the season this past weekend, going 9-1 to beat out presesaon favorite and defending tournament champion North Carolina A&T State and perrennial conference power Maryland Eastern Shore -- both of which went 8-2.
Monmouth and Delaware State were 7-3 on the weekend.
Ana Olaya, the reigning MEAC Rookie of the Year, was the top individual of the weekend, averaging more than 202 pins in traditional play. She was named the conference's Bowler of the Week.
This week, Maryland Eastern Shore will host the UMES Hawk Classic -- taking on a tournament field that will include Coppin State, Delaware State, Howard, Monmouth and North Carolina A&T State.
Florida A&M and UAB will be in Montgomery, Ala. for the Alabama State Hornet Classic.
Bethune-Cookman, Morgan State and Norfolk State are idle until after the New Year.
