This coming week will mark the second week of the 2018-19 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) bowling season, and three member institutions will be getting their seasons underway down in Louisiana.
The season started this past weekend in the Bud Whitman Memorial hosted by Kutztown University in Reading, Pa. Delaware State, ranked No. 8 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Preseason Top 25, went 7-3 for the weekend. The tournament field also included Howard and Coppin State.
Alexis Neuer, the reigning MEAC Bowler of the Year, was named to the Bud Whitman All-Tournament Team after averaging 200.0 pins in traditional play over the weekend, including a weekend best of 226. Her teammate Stefany Toala, a freshman, was also named All-Tournament, and she boasts the best single-game score so far this season with a 278.
Neuer was named MEAC Bowler of the Week.
Coppin State and Howard will be back in action this weekend, both competing in the Mount St. Mary's Shootout. Morgan State will also be in that tournament to kick off its season.
