NORFOLK, Va. -
 Savannah State’s Alante Fenner has been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Howard's R.J. Cole was named Rookie of the Week while Hampton’s Malique Trent-Street and Bethune-Cookman’s Soufiyane Diakite were selected as Co-Defensive Players of the Week.

Fenner averaged a double-double of 21 points and 10.5 rebounds while also dishing out 3.5 assists with 1.5 steals over the past weekend as the Tigers picked up a pair of wins over Maryland Eastern Shore and Howard. In a close contest versus Howard, Fenner came up big with nine of Savannah State’s final 13 points in the final 6:19 including the go-ahead layup with 35 seconds left. The 6-5 senior guard from Lake Wales, Fla. also shot 50 percent from the field as he averaged 30 minutes of action.

Cole continued his stronghold on the MEAC’s Rookie of the Week award as this marks the eighth time and seven consecutive week he was achieved the honor. The 6-1 guard from Union, N.J. averaged 27 points, five rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals in two games over the weekend. Cole scored 27 points in each of Howard’s contests while nailing 11 three-pointers and shooting 75 percent (9-of-12) from the free throw line.

Diakite was the top rebounder in the MEAC over the past two games as he averaged 15.5 boards in a pair of wins over rivals Florida A&M and Stetson. The 6-6 forward from Bronx, NY grabbed 16 rebounds with a block against FAMU while finishing with 15 rebounds at Stetson.

Despite only playing one game in the past cycle, Trent-Street made his presence known as he tied for the MEAC lead with six steals in a win over Delaware State. He had four steals in the first half against the Hornets with all four leading directly to points.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Damani Applewhite (South Carolina State) averaged 10.5 rebounds in wins over Howard and Maryland Eastern Shore.

Cedric Council (Coppin State) led team in scoring with 14 points at North Carolina Central.

Greg Heckstall (Hampton) hit 6-of-7 from the floor and 5-of-6 from three-point land in a home win over Delaware State.

Derrik Jamerson (Norfolk State) recorded 15 points on 50 percent shooting against Elizabeth City State University.

Tiwian Kendley (Morgan State) averaged 23 points in two games at North Carolina A&T State and North Carolina Central.

Kameron Langley (North Carolina A&T State) led the MEAC with nine assists (18 total) per game in wins over Coppin State and Morgan State.

Jordan Perkins (North Carolina Central) averaged nine points and 5.5 assists in wins over Coppin State and Morgan State.

Justin Ravenel (Florida A&M) averaged 22 points in two games which was highlighted by a 30-point performance in the double overtime win over Delaware State.

Pablo Rivas (North Carolina Central) led North Carolina Central in scoring and rebounding with 19 points and 8.5 rebounds over the weekend, highlighted by a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds against Coppin State.

Brandon Tabb (Bethune-Cookman) averaged 19 points in two games which was highlighted by an 18-point, two-block, four-steal performance at Stetson.

Steven Whitley (Norfolk State) captured a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds against Elizabeth City State.

Charles Williams (Howard) averaged 27.5 points on 60 percent shooting from the field in contests against Savannah State and South Carolina State.
