Bethune-Cookman to Face Wake Forest in Women's NIT

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Bethune-Cookman’s second straight appearance in the Women's NIT (WNIT) will take the Lady Wildcats to Winston-Salem, N.C. to face Wake Forest, it was announced late Monday.

The game will be Thursday, March 16 in the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 7 p.m.

“It’s good for the program to be in postseason and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to play Wake Forest,” said B-CU head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis.

The Lady Wildcats are 21-10 and defended their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular-season championship with a program-best 15-1 record in league play. They advanced to the MEAC Tournament championship game for the first time since 1992, falling to No. 3 seed Hampton. B-CU boasts the conference's Coach of the Year in Blair-Lewis and Defensive Player of the Year in Kailyn Williams, who leads the nation in blocked shots.

Wake Forest (15-15) went 6-10 in the ACC this season and dropped its first ACC Tournament game, a 61-44 loss to No. 8 Virginia, back on March 2. Elisa Penna leads four players in double figures, averaging 13.6 points per game.
