Howard senior Imani Ballard was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Morgan State’s Amy Begg earned Pitcher of the Week honors, while Cassidy Blackwell, of Hampton, was named Rookie of the Week.
Ballard (3B/OF, 5-7, Sr., South Bend, Ind.) recorded a .700 batting average and 1.200 slugging percentage, in three games, at the Aggie Invitational. She finished with seven hits, five runs, two doubles, three RBI, a home run and one stolen base.
Begg (P, 6-2, Jr., Christchurch, New Zealand) pitched a complete game, to earn her fourth win of the season, during the 4-2 victory over Marist. She posted a 2.85 ERA in 7.0 innings pitched and fanned seven batters. She surrendered zero hits or runs in the final three innings of the game.
Blackwell (OF/2B, 5-4, Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.) went 8-for-16 (.500) at the plate in five games, with four doubles, one RBI and one walk at the Runnin’ Bulldog Tournament. She finished with a .529 on base percentage and .750 slugging percentage. Her eight hits over the weekend led the MEAC.

Haylee Bobos (MSU) hit a two-run homer in the 4-2 win over Marist.
Cayla Brown (CSU) went 2-for-2 registering a pair of singles in Coppin State’s home opener against Marist.
Patricia Soria (CSU) went 2-for-3 at the plate against Marist, registering a season-high two hits including a double-base hit. Soria also recorded her first career RBI and scored her second run of the season.
Madison Didion (CSU) pitched her second complete game of the season, walking only two batters and striking out a season-best five.
Kenya Pereira (FAMU) struck out 14 batters in six appearances and held Maryland to one run in a 5-1 win.
Cortni Jones (SSU) batted .625 (5-for-8) in three games at the “Strike-Out Cancer” Tournament with two doubles and a run scored with a slugging percentage of .875 and an on-base percentage of .667. Defensively, Jones recorded six putouts with three assists and no errors at third base.
Alysha Bolling (SSU) scored a run with two hits on the offensive end. She recorded three putouts and three assists with no errors in five games last week.
Nathaly Pacheco (NCAT) batted .429 with six hits and a stolen base at the Aggie Invitational. Totaled 25 putouts and seven assists.
Kaitlin Alamprese (BCU) had a team-leading .462 batting average with a team-high two doubles. She also collected a .917 fielding percentage with eight putouts and three assists. Against Stetson, she went 3-for-4 with a run and a RBI.
Ryan Jackson (BCU) fielded at a perfect percentage this past weekend with three putouts and an assist in the Disney Diamond 9 Orange Blossom Classic. She batted at a .231 clip with a RBI to boot.
Kylee Lopez (NSU) batted .800 with four hits, three RBIs and a run scored in two games while also drawing a pair of walks as NSU split with Marist last weekend.
Meaghan Barfield (NSU) batted .400 with two runs, two walks and a double.
Hunter Halford (NSU) compiled a 1-1 mark and a 2.33 ERA this past weekend versus Marist.
