Eastern Shore's Vujosevic Named AVCA All-Region

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore volleyball standout Iva Vujosevic was named as an All-Region Honorable Mention by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), announced by the organization Tuesday.

Already a First Team All-MEAC selection, Vujosevic helped lead the Hawks to a 27-9 campaign in 2017, culminating in the team’s third postseason berth—a selection to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC).

The native of Bar, Montenegro enjoyed a spectacular sophomore season as she led the Hawks with 3.21 kills per set. Among conference competitors she leads with 0.46 aces per set, fourth in points per set, fifth in kills per set, and seventh with a .261 hitting percentage.

Joining Vujosevic on the team are representatives from VCU, N.C. State, Creighton, Syracuse, American, Florida State, Butler, Louisville, Harvard and Northeastern.

Although former Hawks Jana Milin and Saitaua Iosia have won postseason awards beyond the MEAC, Vujosevic is the first to claim an AVCA honor. For her coach Toby Rens, Vujosevic is the ninth player under his tutelage to receive the award.
