NORFOLK, Va. - Howard University's Charles Williams has been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. The Bison's Zion Cousins was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Howard's R.J. Cole earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Williams captured consecutive 20-point performances averaging 21.5 points per game. The 6-6, 185-pound sophomore from Richmond, Va. started off the previous week leading Howard to a victory over Central Penn fueled by his 23 points, 6-rebound performance and followed it up with a 20-point, 8 rebound night against Penn. Williams currently leads the Bison in field goal percentage.
Cousins secured his second career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds against Penn. The 6'7 Freshman from Maryland collected 4 blocks in the win against Central Penn.
Cole helped lead Howard to a 1-1 record over the past week averaging 22 points per game. The 6'1 Freshman from New Jersey currently leads the Bison's in scoring, assist, free throws, and steals on the season. He captured a career-high 9 assists in the victory over Central Penn on Thursday.

Preston Bungei (NSU) totaled 18 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assist, 2 blocks, and 2 steals against Bowling Green.
Karonn Davis (CSU) scored a career-high 20 points with a career-high 8 rebounds, and shot a career-best 10-12 from the line at Georgetown.
Shawntrez Davis (BCU) led team to victory over Jacksonville with a double-double, season-high 28 points and 10 rebounds. Davis scored the first 9 points of the game and the first 6 points of the second half for the Wildcats and currently leads the MEAC in double-doubles.
Soufiyane Diakite (BCU) tallied 11 rebounds and a pair of steals in win over Jackson University.
Taqwain Drummond (CSU) first career start at Georgetown and recorded season-high of 10 points.
Reggie Gardner Jr. (NCCU) secured a career-high performance of 26 points against Southeast Missouri State and made 11 of 12 free throw attempts.
Malik Maitland (BCU) tied his season-high with 16 points against Jackson University and shot 100 percent from the free throw line with 8 free throws made.
Mastadi Pitt (NSU) combined for a total of 19 points in contest against Kent State and Bowling Green.
Dominique Reid (NCCU) recorded a double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds in the win over Christendom and shot 75.0 percent from the floor with just one turnover.
Pablo Rivas (NCCU) averaged 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Collected a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds against Southeast Missouri State, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor.
Artem Tavakalyan (DSU) tallied 20 points and 8 rebounds to lead team against East Carolina.
