DSU Leads Three MEAC Teams in Latest NTCA Poll

DOVER, Del., Dec. 7, 2017 -- The Delaware State bowling team has climbed to No. 6 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Top 25 poll released this week, up six spots from its preseason ranking and tops among Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) teams.

This is Delaware State’s highest ranking since holding the No. 3 spot in the February 2010 poll, the best in team history. That season, Delaware State won its second straight MEAC championship and competed in the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.

The Hornets are 39-14 overall and 14-2 in the MEAC Northern Division this season.

The University of Nebraska is No. 1 in the latest poll, followed by McKendree (Ill.), Arkansas State, Vanderbilt and Sam Houston State.

Defending MEAC champion Maryland Eastern Shore is seventh in the poll and MEAC Southern Division member North Carolina A&T State is No. 17.

The Hornets have completed their fall semester schedule and are idle until Jan. 19, when they return to action in the Kutztown Invitational.

The next MEAC Northern Division competition is Feb. 24-25 in Washington, D.C. The Hornets could clinch their second straight division title that week.
