Savannah State senior Tiyonda Davis and Howard senior Sydni Johnson were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, the conference announced today. Coppin State’s Chance Graham earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Davis was also named Defensive Player of the Week.
Davis (C, 6-4, Sr., Athens, Ga.) averaged 14.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game as Savannah State went 1-1 this past week. She recorded double-doubles in both games – including a 17-point, 17-rebound effort at Howard. She had three blocks in both games, and she also had three steals against Delaware State. For the week, Davis was 11-for-16 (.688) from the floor.
Johnson (F, 6-0, Sr., Homewood, Ill.) led the Lady Bison to a pair of wins this past week, averaging 17.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest. She dropped 21 points, tying her season high, and had seven rebounds against North Carolina Central – and against Savannah State, she scored her 1,000th career point. Johnson was 15-for-29 (.517) from the floor for the week, including a 9-for-14 clip against NCCU.
Graham (C, 6-2, Fr., Upper Marlboro, Md.) averaged 9.0 points and 13.0 rebounds as the Lady Eagles went 1-1 last week. She recorded her second double-double of the season – 10 points, 10 rebounds – against Morgan State, and she tied her season high with 16 boards against Norfolk State.

Ashanti Hunt (BCU): Went 6-for-6 from the floor against Norfolk State, dropping a career-high 21 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
Kailyn Williams (BCU): Scored 13 points against Norfolk State, while also registering two blocks and three steals.
NaJai Pollard (DSU): Averaged 18.0 points and 11.0 rebounds, with double-doubles against Savannah State and Florida A&M.
Jephany Brown (HAM): Had seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals against South Carolina State.
DeJane’ James (HAM): Set career highs in points (17) and assists (six) in the Lady Pirates’ win over South Carolina State.
Jayla Miles (HOW): Had a career-high six blocks against Savannah State, while also grabbing seven rebounds.
Mariah McCoy (MDES): Averaged 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, scoring 13 points against Florida A&M.
Michelle Fitzgerald (NCAT): Scored 17 points and grabbed four rebounds in a blowout win over North Carolina Central.
Alexus Lessears (NCAT): Grabbed 12 rebounds against North Carolina Central.
Kayla Roberts (NSU): Averaged 11.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, recording a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds at Coppin State while also recording three blocks.
Gabrielle Swinson (NSU): Scored 13 points against Bethune-Cookman in her first game returning from a 10-game absence, going 5-for-8 from the floor.
Bryeasha Blair (SCSU): Averaged 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds as the Lady Bulldogs went 2-1 last week. She had 21 points against Morgan State before dropping 18 and grabbing seven rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore.
JaQuanna Murray (SCSU): Grabbed seven rebounds and had three blocks against Hampton – while also blocking three shots against Morgan State.
