MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY VOLLEYBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Lucia Babic was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Teammates Iva Vujosevic and Ivana Blazevic earned Rookie of the Week and Setter of the Week honors, respectively. Alondra Bautista, of Bethune-Cookman, was named Defensive Specialist of the Week.

Babic (OH, 5-10, So., Sisak, Croatia) finished the UMES Courtyard Classic with 37 kills and hit. 309 in five matches. She also recorded 18 digs, seven assists, five service aces and four blocks, while capturing most valuable player honors.

Vujosevic (OH, 5-10, Fr., Bar, Montenegro) led the team with 40 kills (2.67 per set) at the UMES Courtyard Classic. She received all-tournament honors during the weekend after adding 29 digs, 13 service aces, four blocks and two assists.

Blazevic (S, 6-1, Fr., Zagreb, Croatia) averaged 8.8 assists per set at the UMES Courtyard Classic. She earned all-tournament honors after posting 132 assists and 19 digs. Offensively, she finished with 16 kills and six service aces.

Bautista (OH, 5-10, Jr., Carolina, Puerto Rico) totaled 38 digs and seven blocks, including three solo, in three matches over the weekend. She tallied a double-double of 22 digs and 15 kills, alson with three blocks, one assist and one service ace in a five-set win over Tulane.

 

Other Top Performers

Nicole Abreu (FAMU) posted a double-double of 19 kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 victory over Southeastern Louisiana.

Jill Aquino (NSU) finished with 83 assists, 20 digs, four kills, three blocks and two service aces in four matches.

Phylecia Armstrong (B-CU) named to the Allstate Sugar Bowl All-Tournament Team after posting 26 kills, nine blocks, five digs, one assist and one service ace.

Natashia Barker (MSU) recorded 17 kills and six digs against Central Michigan.

Melvina Brown (NSU) tallied 41 digs, 10 assists and five kills in four matches at the UMES Courtyard Classic.

Monette Daniels (MSU) earned Spartan Invitational All-Tournament honors with eight kills, seven blocks and four digs in three matches.

Elena Dimitrova (FAMU) registered 40 assists, two kills, two digs and one block in a four-set win over Florida International.

Alana Handy (B-CU) finished with a double-double of 20 kills and 12 digs in a five-set victory over Tulane.

J’nai Higgins (B-CU) tallied 42 assists, nine digs and one service ace in the Lady Wildcats’ five-set win against Tulane.

Jasmin Hubbard (MSU) totaled a season-best and match-high 19 digs and two service aces against Central Michigan.

Dominic Ingraham (SSU) registered 11 kills, three blocks and one dig in four sets against Georgia Southern.

Bailee Jackson (CSU) recorded 51 kills and 28 digs in four matches at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational.

Jessica Johnson (NSU) named to the UMES Courtyard All-Tournament Team after posting 44 total kills in four matches.

Micah Leavell (HAM) posted a season-high five kills , two blocks, one assist and one dig against East Tennessee State.

Dominique Madarang (CSU) totaled 117 assists, including 43 against Bucknell, at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational.

Caitlynn Masoe (SSU) compiled 30 kills, three blocks, 39 assists, eight services aces and 23 digs in five matches.

Minne Masoe (MSU) set a career- and match-high 29 assists against Central Michigan.

Aaliyah McBean (DSU) finished with 48 digs, five assists and two service aces at the Loyola (Md.) Invitational.

Reeana Richardson (HAM) selected to the Liberty Invitational All-Tournament team after posting a season-high 14 kills and nine digs against USC Upstate.

Alexis Washington (SSU) led the team with 52 digs, six assists and two service aces in five matches.
