Morgan State 3, Norfolk State 0
BALTIMORE, Md. - Norfolk State overcame a slow start but was never able to get over the hump, suffering a 3-0 loss to Morgan State on Sunday afternoon in volleyball action at the Hill Field House.
The Bears completed a weekend MEAC sweep by defeating NSU 25-15, 25-23 and 26-24. The loss gave NSU a split of its weekend after a win over Coppin State on Friday. The Spartans fell to 2-11 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Morgan State, meanwhile, improved to 2-14 overall and 2-0 in the MEAC after taking care of Hampton on Friday. The Bears picked up the win over the Spartans thanks to few errors and a solid offensive attack. MSU hit .290 for the match with just 12 attack errors.
The Spartans performed fairly well in defeat, hitting .198 with just one less kill than Morgan State. Senior Jessica Johnson again led the way for NSU, tallying 12 kills with five digs.

 

 

Florida A&M 3, Savannah State 0
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  – The Savannah State University volleyball team (0-18, 0-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) fell to Florida A&M University (5-11, 2-0 MEAC) 3-0 (11-25, 17-25, 15-25) Sunday in Al Lawson Center.
Senior setter Caitlynn Masoe led the Lady Tigers with six kills and added five assists, five digs and two blocks, while freshman outside hitter Dominique Ingram added four kills.
Junior Alee Quint led the team with 11 assists and added three digs, while senior libero Alexis Washington led the team with nine digs.
The Rattlers were led by Maria Yvette Garcia with 14 kills and added 10 digs for a double-double, Valeria Lopez with 30 assists and with 12 digs for a double-double, while Valentina Carrasco added 12 digs.  Nicole Abreu also recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs.

 

 

Hampton 3, Coppin State 2
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Hampton University volleyball team finished off a weekend in Baltimore with a five-set victory over Coppin State winning 25-21, 18-25, 25-20, 24-26, 17-15 on Sunday.
Reeana Richardson topped the Lady Pirates with her second double-double of the weekend with 22 kills and a season-high 11 digs.  Freshman Micah Leavell recorded a season-high 17 kills and six digs, while Brianna Lilly recorded a season-high 49 assists.  Summer Humes set a career-high in digs with 16 as well for Hampton (2-11, 1-1).
