CSU Men's Basketball Helps Build KaBOOM! Playground

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Coppin State University men’s basketball team recently helped build a KaBOOM! Playground in just one day at Harlem Park Elementary Middle School in Baltimore.

Seniors Chas Brown, Izais Hicks, Keith Shivers, Joshua Treadwell, Mufaro Murinda and junior Eton Thomas volunteered to help give area kids the childhood they deserve by building a new playground.

The nonprofit KaBOOM!, which encourages children to play, launched its Play More B'More program following the Baltimore riots.

Over 250 volunteers including the Coppin State men’s basketball team built the new playground, at the school in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood, in less than six hours.

All of the volunteers were given a Build Day t-shirt.  The design was based on children's drawings created at a special design event in July.
