MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY VOLLEYBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. Howard junior Khaila Donaldson was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Teammates Tamia Dockery and Morgan Marlbrough earned Setter and Defensive Specialist of the Week honors, respectively. Dominique Madarang, of Coppin State, was named Rookie of the Week.

Donaldson (OH, 5-11, Jr., Vernon Hills, Ill.) averaged 4.2 kills per set in four matches. She received all-tournament honors at the Penn State Classic after notching two double-doubles against #20 Penn State and Rhode Island. Donaldson also became the fourth Bison in program history to record 1,000 career kills against #20 Penn State.

Madarang (S, 5-6, Fr., Riverside, Calif.) totaled 86 assists, 32 digs, six kills, five blocks and two service aces at the Comfort Inn Invitational. She tallied two double-doubles, including 40 assists with 16 digs against Kent State, and was named to the all-tournament team.

Dockery (S, 5-8, So., Richmond, Texas) finished the Penn State Classic with 115 assists, 21 digs, seven kills and two blocks. She had a career-high 54 assists in a four-set victory over Clemson.

Marlbrough (LB, 5-4, Sr., Mandeville, La.) averaged 4.07 digs per set in four matches. She also helped Howard hold Loyola (Md.) to a .075 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win.

 

Other Top Performers

Nicole Abreu (FAMU) was named to the 2016 Active Ankle Challenge All-Tournament team after recording a double-double of 10 kills and 12 digs in a win over Jacksonville.

Keana Browne (MSU) finished with 27 kills, nine total blocks, nine digs, two service aces and one assist in four matches.

Kayla Finnerty (NCAT) notched 20 assists and two kills against Gardner-Webb.

Maria Yvette Garcia (FAMU) finished with 14 digs, 26 kills, six blocks, four assists and two service aces at the 2016 Active Ankle Challenge.

Dominique Ingram (SSU) tallied 28 kills, 14 blocks, three digs and one assist in five matches.

Bailee Jackson (CSU) led the team with 34 kills at the Comfort Inn Invitational.

Micah Leavell (HAM) recorded 15 kills, four digs, two service aces and one block solo in a 3-2 win over Loyola (Md.).

Cailynn Masoe (SSU) compiled 27 kills, three total blocks, 33 assists, 32 digs and three service aces in five matches.

Haley McClure (MSU) recorded a career-high 17 kills and a career-high 15 digs against Middle Tennessee State.

Paige Phillips (NCCU) registered a double-double of 17 assists and 15 digs against Elon.

Reeana Richardson (HAM) named to the Patriot Invitational All-Tournament team after posting 25 kills, seven digs, three total blocks and two service aces in a 3-2 win over Loyola (Md.).

Glorines Rosado (CSU) tied a career-high six assists against Kent State at the Comfort Inn Invitational.

Mere Serea (UMES) earned Spartan Classic All-Tournament honors with 15 blocks, including four solo, and eight kills.

Iva Vujosevic (UMES) posted a team-high 21 kills in three matches at the Spartan Classic.

Roi Wallace (MSU) averaged 24.5 assists and 6.0 digs against American, Middle Tennessee State, Liberty and VCU.

Alexis Washington (SSU) totaled 70 digs, five service aces and four assists in five matches.
