EAST LANSING, Mich. — In the final match before conference play, Maryland Eastern Shore faced their toughest test yet against the Michigan State Spartans. The No. 22 ranked team in the nation lived up to their billing, defeating the Hawks in straight sets (11-25, 17-25, 15-25) at Jenison Field House Saturday.
With the defeat, the Hawks complete the first half of the season with a record of 7-8. The Spartans improved to 10-1.
Maryland Eastern Shore was led by a solid all-around performance from freshman setter Ivana Blazevic , who assisted on 18 kills while going 3-for-4 on attacks and supplying four digs. Sophomore Koya Sowells led in digs with seven and freshman Iva Vujosevic recorded a team high seven kills. Senior Mere Serea participated on five of the Hawks’ six blocks, including a pair of solos.

CHARLESTON, S.C.  – Freshman outside hitter Dominique Ingram led the Savannah State University volleyball team with 15 kills, a .344 hitting percentage and eight total blocks in two matches Saturday as the Lady Tigers fell to host The Citadel 3-0 (21-25, 8-25, 23-25) and to Austin Peay State University 3-0 (14-25, 20-25, 21-25) at the Bulldog Invitational in McAlister Field House.
Senior setter Caitlynn Masoe added nine kills, 13 assists and 11 digs, while junior setter Alee Quint led the team with 28 assists and senior libero Alexis Washington led the team with 18 digs combined in both matches.
Graduate student Justice Dilworth added 13 digs and six kills, while sophomore outside hitter Charlinda Colbert added eight kills and six blocks in both matches.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Howard women’s volleyball team dropped a pair of the final day of the Penn State Invitational after being  swept by #20 Penn State  (16-25, 12-25, 16-25) before falling in a five-set thriller to Rhode Island (25-23, 16-25, 25-18, 16-25, 8-15).
With the conclusion of the two-day tournament, the Bison are 10-5 overall.
Junior Khaila Donaldson had seven kills to go along with a team-high 11 digs against PSU. Donaldson became the fourth Bison in program history to reach 1,000 career kills.

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Hampton University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday to close out the Patriot Invitational at George Mason University.
In the opener, Hampton fell to the host Patriots 25-15, 25-17, 25-14.   Reeana Richardson and Lena Washington topped the Lady Pirates with seven kills each, while Washington added 11 digs.   Brianna Lilly finished with 18 assists, four digs and one block as well for Hampton.
The nightcap saw them fall to Bryant 25-15, 25-9, 25-21.  Richardson had eight kills and five digs to top Hampton, while Micah Leavell added seven kills, two digs and two blocks.   Washington recorded six kills and three digs, as Lilly had two kills and 17 assists.
