HARRISONBURG, Va. – Sophomore Jazmine Daye had her best match in two seasons with five points for the North Carolina Central University volleyball team in a 3-0 loss to Georgia State University in the Lady Eagles final match of the James Madison University Invitational Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers launched 14 aces and hit .250 to move back over .500 at 2-1. NCCU left the season-opening tournament winless at 0-3.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -The Morgan State Lady Bears opened up Day 2 of the La Salle Invitational with a 3-0 (12-25, 12-25, 10-25) non-conference loss to Saint Francis-Pa. on Day 2 of the La Salle Invitational at Tom Gola Arena on the La Salle University campus.
Emily Marcinowski had a match-high eight kills and Kelsey Roush added seven to help the Red Flash earn their first victory of the season. Amelia Metzler had a match-high 21 assists and Jenna Veres finished with a team-high 15 digs, as SFU improved to 4-5 all-time against Morgan State.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — After dropping their first set of the season to Texas Southern, Maryland Eastern Shore’s volleyball team needed to rally the troops in order to keep a perfect start to the season intact. They did just that, taking the next three sets on the way to a 3-1 victory (23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23) on Saturday.
Sophomores Rachel Kayongo and Lucia Babic were the attack leaders for the Hawks (3-0), with Kayongo contributing 19 kills and a 46.9-percent success rate and Babic supplying 10 kills and a 40-percent success rate. Junior Kirstin Fink assisted on 16 kills.

ATHENS, Ga. – The Savannah State University volleyball team (0-3) lost both matches on Saturday at the Benson Invitational. The Lady Tigers first fell to host University of Georgia (2-0) 3-0 (12-25, 10-25, 14-25) and fell to UNC Asheville (1-2) 3-0 (11-25, 16-25, 18-25).
Junior setter Caitlynn Masoe led the Lady Tigers will 11 kills in both matches and added 10 assists, six digs and three blocks, while freshman outside hitter Dominic Ingraham added nine kills with a .381 hitting percentage and five blocks.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The 2016 Hampton University volleyball season started on Saturday with a pair of matches at the Temple Invitational as the Lady Pirates dropped a pair of 3-0 decisions to Northern Arizona University and the host Temple Owls.
Earning All-Tournament honors for Hampton was Lena Washington who had 13 kills, 15 digs and one ace in the two games for the Lady Pirates.
