UMES? Batchelor Among Attendees At Center For Coaching Excellence

ATLANTA – As the new college basketball season approaches, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Women’s Basketball Head Coach Fred Batchelor took the time out of his schedule to attend the Center for Coaching Excellence (CCE), hosted by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

The selected group of coaches held the two-day (Aug. 9-10) comprehensive leadership development workshop in Atlanta, providing exceptional accommodations.

Batchelor attended his first CCE assembly, where he came away very impressed.

“This was a highly enlightening experience from a professional growth and developmental stand point,” Batchelor stated. “I’m excited to utilize the best practices and strategies to enhance our program by serving directly with my staff and student-athletes.”

The small, intimate class size provided an unparalleled, exclusive learning experience for coaches of women's and girls' basketball.

Coaches who attended CCE had collaborative and interactive learning sessions, facilitated by program creators and catalysts, Dr. M. Dianne Murphy and Dr. Cathie T. Siders.

“Dr. Murphy and Dr. Siders were great presenters,” Batchelor added. “It was a first-class, transformational experience that provided us meaningful networking opportunities.”

CCE also incorporates the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality inventory, which allows for individual customization of the learning experience.

More than 250 women’s and girls' basketball coaches have attended CCE, which began in 2011 as a joint partnership between Columbia University and the WBCA.
