Five Hawks Receive NTCA All-Academic Distinction

ARLINGTON, Texas — Maryland Eastern Shore earned five recipients to the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Academic Team, while the team as a whole had the seventh best GPA of bowling squads for the 2015-16 academic year. The 163 student-athletes from 32 schools maintained a 3.4 cumulative GPA for the year.

The team earned a 3.54 GPA as a squad. Senior Thashaina Seraus was named as an individual, along with sophomores Melanie Copey and Jalesa Johnson and freshmen Danielle August and Kaci Collins.

All five made significant contributions to the Hawks on the lanes this season, including Seraus’ All-American status and Copey’s All-MEAC selection. In the classroom the bowlers are working for a myriad of majors, from Rehabilition Psychology to Business Administration.

LIU Brooklyn took the highest GPA among NTCA schools at 3.71 with nine individual selections.

The Hawks 2016-17 bowling campaign and quest for a sixth national title is scheduled to begin in October.
