B-CU's Salaam Receives NABC Academic Honor

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman University guard Josue Salaam has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2015-16 Honors Court.

Recognizing students-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season, the Honors Court includes juniors and seniors who have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at their current institution.

Salaam, a senior from San Francisco, Calif., appeared in 27 games last season (starting seven) and averaged 3.8 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.

“I’m pleased to see Josue recognized for his work in the classroom,” said Bethune-Cookman Head Coach Gravelle Craig. “Josue made a positive contribution to our team last year and I’m looking forward to him continuing to work hard in the classroom with a goal of an even higher GPA and graduating with honors.”

In Craig’s five seasons as Head Coach, the basketball program has produced 19 Bachelor’s Degree award winners as well as five Master’s Degree recipients, including Craig himself.
