Howard Tennis Recognized by NCAA for Academic Success

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Howard University head coach Larry Strickland along with his men's and women's tennis teams were recognized by the NCAA with the Public Recognition Award on Tuesday.

The honor is given to teams with an NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports in the 2014-15 academic year.

Since coming to Howard in 1984, Strickland played an essential role in helping his student-athletes achieve their academic and athletic goals. The academic success of the teams showed his commitment to developing student-athletes and striving for excellence in the classroom and on the courts. He has led his squads to nine Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships during his tenure.
