NCCU's Tracy Named To NCCSIA All-State First Team

2016 NCCSIA University Division All-State Softball Teams

DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2016 University Division All-State Softball Teams on Wednesday and North Carolina Central University second baseman Jenny Tracy added another award to her impressive collection of honors by being selected to the program’s first team.

Tracy, who is still in consideration for the NCAA Woman of the Year award after being selected as both NCCU’s and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s (MEAC) nominee for the award over the past couple of weeks, garnered first team all-state laurels by the NCCSIA after an outstanding senior season for the Lady Eagles.

In her senior season at second base for the Lady Eagles, Tracy recorded a .307 batting average with 42 hits, 13 runs scored, 18 RBI, seven doubles and a team-best five home runs.

All-State esteem is just the latest honor presented to Tracy over the past few month. The NCCU and MEAC honoree for NCAA Woman of the Year was most notably named CoSIDA Academic All-America first team in 2016. Tracy was the NCCU softball team player’s choice award winner, MEAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team (x3) and NCCU Chancellor’s Award (x2) honoree to go along with an excess number of academic achievements.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.

Tracy is one of a dozen fastpitch players to make the first team and one of 23 total honorees between the two teams that encompass the best players from North Carolina’s Division I programs. The La Grande, Oregon, product is the fourth NCCU softball player to earn NCCSIA All-State accolades at the University division joining Emerie Germ (2015), Casey Hargett (2015) and Sophia Blue (2008).
