NORFOLK, Va. — Delaware State’s Nicole Gazzola was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Teammates Sabrina Quarles earned Rookie of the Week, while Nicole Brock was named Pitcher of the Week.
Gazzola (OF, 5-6, Sr., Coram, N.Y.) recorded a .625 batting average in a two-game sweep of Rider. She finished with five hits, three runs scored and stole two bases. She became the only player in Delaware State all-time history to tally over 200 hits, more than 180 runs and over 100 stolen bases.
Quarles (OF, 5-4, Fr., Artesia, Calif.) went 2-for-4 in the 11-3 win over Rider. She registered two hits, including a game-high four RBIs, and scored one run.
Brock (P, 5-6, Jr., Effingham County, Ga.) allowed only four hits in 6.0 innings against Rider. The victory was her 12th of the season.
