MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY SOFTBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. North Carolina A&T State’s Raven Gray was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Cortni Jones, of Savannah State, earned Rookie of the Week, while teammate Amanda Hallman was named Pitcher of the Week.

Gray (OF, 5-4, So., Forest City, N.C.) registered a .500 batting average in a three-game sweep of North Carolina Central. She finished with five hits, including two triples, four runs scored, one run batted in and one walk. In the first game of the series, she had a walk-off RBI single to seal the 4-3 win.

Jones (3B, 5-5, Fr., Snellville, Ga.) went 4-for-10 in four games against Georgia Southern and South Carolina State. She recorded three runs, one double, two triples, four RBIs, one walk and one stolen base in a doubleheader sweep against South Carolina State.

Hallman (P, 5-8, Jr., Kennesaw, Ga.) posted a 0.64 ERA in two games against Georgia Southern and South Carolina. She scattered six hits, with 13 strikeouts, in both games.

Melanie Benge (CSU) finished with two hits, one run scored, one double and one run batted in, in two games against Morgan State.

Emily Diseroad (UMES) hit her second career home run against Howard

Lauren Dunlow (NCAT) went 3-for-3, with one RBI, in a 3-2 win over North Carolina Central.

Amber Fullwood (FAMU) batted .600, with one home run and three RBIs, in a win over Bethune-Cookman.

Kylee Lopez (NSU) belted one home run against UMBC.

Kenya Pereira (FAMU) posted a 2.72 ERA, in 10.1 innings, against Bethune-Cookman.

Megan Przeslawski (NSU) tallied eight strikeouts, in 10.0 innings pitched, against UMBC and Hampton.

Alexis Singleton (SSU) notched a 1.000 batting average in the doubleheader sweep against South Carolina State.

Danielle Smith (CSU) went 3-for-3 at the plate, with one double and one run batted in, in a win over Morgan State.

Zadaisha Waddell (NCAT) allowed only one earned run, in seven innings, against North Carolina Central.

Sara Jo Whaley (UMES) batted .667, with two hits, against Howard.

Whitney Williams (NSU) hit two home runs to tie the school record (22), in two games against Hampton.
