Florida A&M Selected to NCAA Softball Championship

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers were selected Sunday night to the 2016 NCAA Softball Championship and will play in the Tallahassee Regional, May 20-22, at JoAnne Graf Field.

The Lady Rattlers (27-28) earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) automatic bid after an 8-1 win over Bethune-Cookman in the conference title game. Florida A&M is making its 10th NCAA Postseason appearance since 1995 and seventh NCAA Regional appearance since 1999. The Lady Rattlers are making its first trip to the Tallahassee Regional.

Florida A&M will play host Florida State (48-8), the overall No. 8 seed and host institution, on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The Lady Rattlers and Seminoles are joined in Tallahassee by South Florida (44-14) and South Carolina (36-21).

Florida A&M and Florida State twice this season with Florida State winning both games, 10-1 and 12-3.

The three-day regional in Tallahassee will be held on May 20-22 and will start with South Florida versus South Carolina at 12:00 p.m., followed by Florida State playing Florida A&M 30 minutes after the completion of the first game. The South Florida-South Carolina game will air on the SEC Network, while FSU-FAMU will be broadcast on ESPN3.

The double elimination regional will conclude on May 22 and the winner of the 2016 NCAA Tallahassee Regional will match up with the winner of the Lexington Regional in the NCAA Super Regional round on May 26-29. If Florida State wins its regional, it will host the Super Regionals.
