CSU's McRoy Recognized as a Top-25 Assistant Coach

BALTIMORE, Md.- Coppin State University men’s basketball associate head coach Elwyn McRoy was named one of the Top 25 Assistant Coach Recruiters at the Low-Major level, ranked by a national panel of voters.

Coaches from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, MEAC, NEC, OVC, Southland, Summit, SWAC, and WAC were considered based on criteria such as recruiting contributions to team success, experience, reputation among peers, success of signees and more.

Coach Elwin McRoy, who just completed his second year on the Coppin State men’s basketball coaching staff, is a skilled recruiter and excellent coach.

He began his career at the junior college level where the Basketball Times named him in the Top 12 JUCO Recruiters in the nation. As a JUCO coach McRoy would coach 28 eventual NCAA Division I players.

McRoy was noted for his ability to use his extensive network of contacts and working recruits until they finally say “yes”.

At the NCAA Division I level, McRoy has been an assistant coach at Iowa State, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Southern University and Texas-Pan American where he coached during the 2013-14 season. McRoy is a seasoned, dedicated and passionate coach that has empowered student-athletes to reach new heights with high principles on and off the court.

McRoy’s passion for the game with his ability to influence and develop talent has made him a successful coach at all of his stops. ​
