HAMPTON, VA. -- Freshman Charles Hudson scored a win in singles and teamed with Miguel Suarez in doubles as Hampton University fell 6-1 to Chowan University on Wednesday at home.
During doubles, Chowan won two of the three matches but all three were down to the end. Hudson and Suarez, who are now 9-2 on the season as a tandem, won at number three over Rafael Goncalves and Louis Proulx 8-4. Chowan took wins by 8-7 (7-3) and 8-6 at the top two doubles lines respectively to earn the team point.
The visitors continued that run through singles taking five of the six singles matches. Hudson stopped that run being bumped up one to number two singles and he scored a tough three-set win 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 over Mateusz Izycki for the lone team point for the Pirates.
Hampton is now on the road this weekend for two matches in Pennsylvania starting with Villanova on Friday at 12:30 pm.
