PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In their final road test of the season, Coach Sam Douglas and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Softball Team were blanked twice against the Drexel Dragons.
UMES (11-28) dropped game one, 5-0, and then the Dragons (19-29) finished game two in six innings with an 8-0 victory.
In game one, Maryland Eastern Shore produced only five hits; however, had multiple opportunities to score as they stranded six runners total.
Both squads were scoreless after three until Drexel’s Taylor M. Lee homered to left center and sparked a three-run fourth inning for the Dragons.
Next inning, Drexel generated two more runs; thus, making the final score 5-0.
In game two, the Lady Hawks managed only three hits.
Drexel took the lead after three with a three-run inning.
In the fifth, the Dragons’ Kai Uyesaka belted a three-run shot to left field and extended their advantage, 6-0.
Next inning, Drexel’s Jourdan Skirha delivered the knockout punch with a two-run single and gave the Dragons an 8-0 victory.
