NORFOLK, Va. – The Bethune-Cookman Lady Wildcats will take on the Florida A&M Lady Rattlers during a nationally televised broadcast Thursday, April 28 on ESPNU and on ESPN3. The game will air live from the Lady Rattlers Softball Complex in Tallahassee, Fla., beginning at 4 p.m. EST.
The broadcast marks the 11th consecutive season the MEAC has televised a softball game on an ESPN platform.
Bethune-Cookman (15-29) is currently 9-3 in MEAC action. Annie Bakenhus leads the Lady Wildcats in batting average (.361), and hits (52), while second in runs scored (27) and doubles (5). On the mound Sabrina Anguiano sports a 3.97 ERA with a 7-13 record and 77 strikeouts through 146.1 innings pitched.
Florida A&M is 22-24 overall and 10-2 in MEAC play. Jessica Nathan tops the team in batting average (.366), hits (56), runs scored (32) and triples (8) while sharing the lead in doubles (8) and home runs (3). Kenya Pereira leads them on the mound with an 11-11 record and a 3.30 ERA. She has struck out 113 batters in 150.2 innings pitched.
The 2016 MEAC Softball Championship is scheduled for May 12-14, 2016 at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex, 700 Hull Road, in Ormond Beach, Florida. The top four teams in each division will compete against one another in the double-elimination tournament.
