NORFOLK, Va. — Delaware State’s Sandy Hawthorne was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Savannah State’s Amanda Hallman earned Pitcher of the Week, while Hope Sobelewski , of Hampton, was named Rookie of the Week.
Hawthorne (C, 5-7, Sr., Smithtown, N.Y.) recorded a .583 batting average in a three-game sweep of Howard. She finished with seven hits, including one home run, one double and one triple, with four runs scored and nine RBIs. Defensively, she added 18 putouts in the series.
Sobelewski (OF, 5-8, Fr., Moreno Valley, Calif.) went 8-for-13 in a three-game sweep of Coppin State. She registered seven runs, one home run, five doubles, one triple, 11 RBIs and one walk in the series.
Hallman (P, 5-8, Jr., Kennesaw, Ga.) posted a 0.00 ERA in two wins over North Carolina A&T State. She fanned 12 strikeouts in both games.

Alisha Esqueda (CSU) notched a .947 slugging percentage in six games against Howard and Hampton.

Hunter Halford (NSU) posted a 1.75 ERA, in 11.3 innings, against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Allie Hotetz (HAM) tallied nine strikeouts in three wins over Coppin State.
Cortni Jones (SSU) finished with seven hits, five runs scored, three doubles and five runs batted in, in five games against Jacksonville and North Carolina A&T State.
Megan Przeslawski (NSU) hit two home runs, in two games against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Alexis Singleton (SSU) recorded a fielding percentage of 1.000, in five games against Jacksonville and North Carolina A&T State.
