MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY SOFTBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. Bethune-Cookman’s Bailey Conner was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Teammate Annie Bakenhus earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Amanda Hallman of Savannah State was named Pitcher of the Week.

Conner (DH, 5-9, Jr., Encinitas, Calif.) registered a .545 batting average in three wins over South Carolina State. She finished with seven hits, including one home run, one double and one triple, with four runs scored and six RBIs. Defensively, she pitched 4.1 scoreless innings in an 8-6 victory over South Carolina State.

Bakenhus (OF, 5-5, Fr., Yucaipa, Calif.) went 6-for-11 in a three-game sweep over South Carolina State. She recorded seven runs, three RBIs, two walks and six stolen bases in the series.

Hallman (P, 5-8, Jr., Kennesaw, Ga.) notched a 0.82 ERA in three games against Florida A&M. She allowed two earned runs in 17.0 innings and recorded 18 strikeouts in the series.

Sabrina Anguiano (B-CU) pitched a shutout, with seven strikeouts, against South Carolina State.

Melanie Benge (CSU) fanned six in seven innings pitched against Albany.

Mackenzie Brown (UMES) batted .667, with one run batted in and one double, against Hampton.

Alisha Esqueda (CSU) finished with five hits, two runs scored, three doubles and two RBIs, in four games against Albany.

Adrienne Guerra (UMES) allowed only two runs, in seven innings, against UMBC.

Cortni Jones (SSU) belted one home run in the 3-2 win over Florida A&M.

Haley Jones (DSU) hit a grand slam home run in a win against Morgan State.

Trenece Nash (UMES) tied a career-high four RBIs in a win over UMBC.

Kenya Pereira (FAMU) tallied four strikeouts, in seven innings, to earn a victory over Savannah State.

Megan Przeslawski (NSU) posted a 0.68 ERA with 10 strikeouts, in 10.1 innings, against North Carolina Central and Howard.

Antonette Smith (SSU) recorded a 1.000 slugging percentage in three games against Florida A&M.

Danielle Smith (CSU) registered nine putouts, five assists and no errors in four games against Albany.

Tara Tursellino (DSU) notched a season-high eight strikeouts in a win over Morgan State.

Whitney Williams (NSU) went 5-for-7, with one home run and four RBIs, in two games against North Carolina Central.
