NORFOLK, Va. — Savannah State’s Brianna Harris was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Teammate Cortni Jones earned Rookie of the Week, while Kenya Pereira of Florida A&M was named Pitcher of the Week.
Harris (SS, 5-4, So., Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded a .615 batting average in three wins over North Carolina Central. She finished with eight hits, including three doubles and one triple, with eight runs scored and five RBIs. She also had three putouts and two stolen bases in the series sweep.
Jones (3B, 5-5, Fr., Snellville, Ga.) went 6-for-12, in three wins over North Carolina Central, with one run and two doubles. She recorded a perfect 1.000 field percentage with five putouts, six assists and no errors.
Pereira (RHP, 5-3, Jr., Kissimmee, Fla.) registered a 3.25 ERA in three games against North Florida and North Carolina A&T State. She allowed two runs in 7.0 innings pitched and tallied nine strikeouts, in a win over North Carolina A&T State.
