TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman’s Tallahassee tour ended Sunday with a 6-0 loss to No. 23 Florida State at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
The teams only played singles matches.
Alvaro Barrera took his No. 5 opponent, Jake Albo, to three sets and led most of the final set before Albo posted a 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5) tiebreaker decision.
The Wildcats’ top two players, Alexander Chepik at No. 1 and Walid Gtari, got to face off against nationally ranked competitors – Benjamin Lock, ranked tenth, downed Chepik 6-3,6-4 while Gtari fell to No. 74 Marco Nunez 6-1, 7-6 (6-3) at No. 2.
Florida State improved to 17-7 while Bethune-Cookman fell to 11-12.
The Wildcats close their regular season Friday at Warner.
