Hampton Push South Dakota But Fall 5-2
Orlando, Fl. – The Hampton University women’s tennis team took on the University of South Dakota in its second spring break match in Florida and fell 5-2 on Monday afternoon.
In singles, the top two flights each went to a third set as both teams won one. South Dakota took the No. 1 singles, while Cherise Slocombe won for Hampton at No. 2 singles after dropping the first set 6-4, she won the last two 7-5 and won the third set breaker 10-7. Mikaela Pierce scored a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 over Milica Pavlovic for the other Hampton win in singles.
During doubles, the Coyotes won all three matches to take the team point with Mariam Mitaishvii and Mikaela Pierce lost 6-4 at No. 1.

Savannah State Falls To George Mason
HILTON HEAD, SC - The Savannah State University women’s tennis team (0-11) fell to George Mason (4-8) Monday.
After losing at the No. 3 doubles position due to not having enough players, GM’s doubles duo of Marijke Boers and Morgan Yang defeated SSU’s doubles team of Jennyfer Vivas and Rachida Kateb 6-1 at the No. 1 doubles position and GM’s doubles team of Olivia Lacy-Thompson and Scarlett Walston defeated SSU’s doubles duo of Bria Burrows and Tiffany Williams 6-0 at the No. 2 doubles position.
Elizabeth Geronimo fell to Brittany Pilkington 7-5 in the first set at the No. 1 singles position, but won the second set 7-5, but lost the tiebreaker set 10-7, while Kateb fell to Sydney Green 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 2 singles position and Burrows fell to Esu Erdenebat 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles position.
Vivas fell to Lacy-Thompson 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 singles position, while Tiffany Williams fell to Scarlett Walston 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 singles position and Nicole Haigwood won by default since the Lady Tigers did not have enough players to fill the position.
The Lady Tigers return home to face Illinois State on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Tiger Tennis Courts.
